Ah, yes, with 140 unfinished email responses in my Drafts folder I figured it was now time to revisit and reread one of my all-time favorite books originally published back in 1985: Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business
While stimulating my cerebral cortex and innermost being with that exquisitely profound and deeply reflective piece of writing, I chanced upon another thoughful and interesting book in the Barnes & Noble yesterday: The Tyranny of Email
Click here for a short video about the aforementioned book.
I wonder if it will help me to figure out what this all means and what it might be doing to our culture, lives, brains, and souls...

If there is anything I can help with, Sidi...

salam alakum shaykh
Jazakhallah for uploading the kutba, very timely for me.
In the khutba, you mentioned finding the spiritual masters of our time(the few that are here) in your opnion, who are these people??, where are they???
I'm in desperate need ahki and I'm willing to travel anywhere brother. I really am trying to change and have made the first steps masallah but i do not have any real guidance.
I heard a talk by chance from sh.Yahya Rhodus(May Allah perserve him)who describe the methodology of the seeker and subanallah, my circumstances matched.
I know this is not probabely the best time for you (140 emails or soo..:)) but I'm really in need of this spiritual food.
May Allah continue to shower his blessings on you and ur family and may he continue to increase you in knowledge.
salams

Ah yes, this one: Self-Rectification and the Four Ways to Discover the Faults in One's Soul
http://www.reflectonthis.com/blog/2009/07/khutbah-selfrectification-and-the-four-ways-to-discover-the-faults-in-ones-soul.html
They are all over the world, in many lands. Granted, they are much fewer in these "latter days", but they are still there. The best way to find them is to be sincere, make heartfelt dua's, get up for tahajjud (night) prayers, increase your dhikr, and then, ask Allah to show them to you and bring you to them...
May Allah facilitate your journey... Amin.
