Dar al-Mustafa Mawlid (Arabic & English) - Monday, March 31, 2008
Bismillah.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.
The following are recordings from the huge Mawlid gathering held at Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen on Monday, March 31, 2008.
There are two files here (both of which start a little late but finish till the end):
- Arabic audio of singing and speeches: This file is 2 hour and 17 minutes long. The singing is from the beginning of the file until minute marker 32:25, at which point the speeches start.
- Live English simultaneous interpretation: This file is 1 hour long. Note: Please realize how difficult it is to do a simultaneous interpretation (and believe me, this faqir knows this first hand!) and that there may be a few omissions and or slight mistakes. It is always best to ask or double check if something was not clear (rather than assume or formulate a bad opinion).
The order of the noble and distinguished speakers:
- Habib Ali Mashhour bin Hafiz (the Mufti of Tarim and older brother of Sayyidi al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz)
- Habib Abdullah bin Shihab (the noble son of one of Habib Umar bin Hafiz's most respected teachers)
- Habib Salim al-Shatiri
- Habib Umar bin Hafiz (the Dean of Dar al-Mustafa for Islamic Studies)
UPDATE: There seems to be an issue with playback on the English stream for some users. Please make sure that you have the latest version of the QuickTime Player installed on your system. It can be downloaded for free here: www.QuickTime.com

Jazak'Allah Khayr,
The audio is most appreciated.
May Allah reward you with Birr. Allahumma Ameen.

Why is it the english version sounds a bit fast? Can I change anything on the setting?
Thank you again.

Bismillah.
Wa alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh . . .
Al-hamdu lillah, may Allah accept!
I am looking into the English playback issue. I have an idea of what it might be, but it might not be till tonight until I can fix it, in sha Allah.
Also, "haissam", I am not sure what they were reading, although I do know it is a famous Hadrami Mawlid (and certainly not "The Shimmering Light" of Habib Umar)...

Bismillah.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh . . .
Can you tell me if it plays ok if you have the latest version of Quicktime player installed on your system?
www.QuickTime.com
If still not, then not to worry, I know what the issue is (but again, it might have to wait till tonight as I don't have the original file on this computer right now).

Al-hamdu lillah... So, those that were having playback issues, is that the problem, not having the latest version of the QuickTime Player? www.QuickTime.com
Please do let me know. I haven't re-uploaded the file yet (cause it is kind of big and if this will solve the problem then there is no need, in sha Allah).
